Mold design and manufacturing
- Product design: According to the specifications, performance requirements and cooperation relationship with other components of the remote component connector, carry out detailed 3D model design, determine the key parameters such as the shape size, pin number, spacing and insertion force of the connector.
- Mold design: According to the product design model, design a mold suitable for the production of the connector. Mold design needs to take into account the requirements of injection molding, stamping and other processes, to ensure that the precision, strength and life of the mold can meet the needs of mass production.
- Mold manufacturing: Using high-precision processing equipment, such as CNC machining center, EDM machine tool, etc., to manufacture molds. In the manufacturing process, it is necessary to strictly control the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the mold, through precision measuring instruments for testing and calibration, to ensure that the mold indicators meet the design requirements.
Raw material preparation
- Metal materials: The pins and contacts of connectors are typically made of copper alloys, stainless steel, and other metals. These materials must have good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. Purchase metal sheets or wires that meet the standards, and conduct inspections to ensure that the chemical composition and physical properties of the materials comply with the requirements.
- Plastic materials: The housing of connectors is typically made of engineering plastics such as polycarbonate (PC) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). These plastics offer excellent insulation, mechanical properties, and heat resistance. Select appropriate plastic pellets based on product requirements and dry them to remove moisture, preventing bubbles or defects during injection molding.
Assemble
- Part cleaning: The parts after stamping and injection molding are cleaned to remove oil, impurities and burrs on the surface to ensure the cleanliness of parts and assembly quality. The cleaning method usually adopts ultrasonic cleaning or chemical cleaning.
- Assembly Operation: Assemble the cleaned parts according to design requirements. First, insert the metal pins into the corresponding holes in the housing and ensure their positions are accurate. Then, connect the pins to the contacts using methods such as welding or crimping, forming a complete connector. During assembly, specialized tooling and equipment must be used to ensure precision and consistency.
- Testing and Debugging: After assembly is complete, conduct a comprehensive inspection and debugging of the connector. The testing includes visual inspection, dimensional measurement, and electrical performance testing. Through visual inspection, check for missing parts, surface scratches, deformation, and other issues; use measuring tools to measure key dimensions of the connector to ensure they meet design standards; use electrical performance testing equipment to test contact resistance, insulation resistance, voltage withstand capability, and other electrical performance indicators to ensure the connector meets usage requirements. For defective products identified during testing, perform repairs or scrap them.
Packaging and warehousing
- Packaging: Qualified pull-out component connectors are packaged. Common packaging materials include plastic bags, cardboard boxes, and thermoformed trays. Connectors can be packaged individually or in batches to prevent damage during transportation and storage. The package should indicate the product model, specifications, quantity, production date, and other information for easy identification and management.
- Inventory: Store the packaged connectors in the warehouse under specific storage conditions. The warehouse should be kept dry and well-ventilated to prevent moisture, dust, and corrosion from affecting the connectors. Additionally, a comprehensive inventory management system should be established to record and track the entry and exit of connectors, ensuring product traceability.
