MultiCom® Hengtong’s High-bandwidth OM4 optical fiber is a new gradient type of data center fiber with a core diameter of 50 μm and a cladding diameter of 125 μm. The fiber is designed for 10Gb/s Ethernet using a low-cost 850nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) as the light source. It has the highest bandwidth and lower attenuation. Can be used for transmission on 40G/100G networks.
MultiCom® Hengtong’s High-bandwidth OM4 optical fiber meets or exceeds ISO/IEC 11801 OM4 specifications, IEC 60793-2-10 Class A1a.3 fibers.

Product Introduction

High-Bandwidth OM4 Optical Fiber, a high-performance multimode fiber, is engineered for rapid data transmission with superior bandwidth and performance. It achieves an effective modal bandwidth of over 2000MHz·km at 850nm wavelength, surpassing traditional fibers, enabling longer distances and higher data rates. Suitable for both intra-data center connections and inter-data center links, its optimized geometry and low attenuation ensure stable signal transmission.

Super Wide Bandwidth

High-Bandwidth OM4 Optical Fiber boasts a bandwidth of up to 4700 MHz·km, significantly outperforming OM3 fiber's 2000 MHz·km. This provides a broader channel for data transmission. The increase means OM4 fiber can transmit more data in the same time, greatly enhancing network transmission efficiency.

Long-Distance Transmission

In 10 Gbps applications, OM4 fiber can transmit over 550 meters, far exceeding OM3 fiber's range of 300-550 meters. In higher-speed 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps applications, OM4 fiber maintains a transmission distance of 150-300 meters, meeting long-distance data transmission needs. This feature reduces fiber optic cabling complexity and lowers installation costs. Especially in large data centers and enterprise networks, OM4 fiber's long-distance transmission capability significantly cuts fiber laying and management expenses.

Low Loss Characteristics

OM4 fiber exhibits extremely low loss characteristics, effectively reducing signal attenuation and enhancing data transmission accuracy and reliability. Signal attenuation is a key factor affecting transmission quality during high-speed transmission. OM4 fiber minimizes modal dispersion by optimizing fiber structure and refractive index profile, thereby reducing signal attenuation and ensuring data integrity and accuracy during transmission.

Backward Compatibility

OM4 fiber not only offers exceptional performance but is also backward compatible with OM3 fiber. This means existing multimode fiber network equipment can be used with OM4 fiber without the need for extensive equipment upgrades or replacements.
