FC pigtail

FC pigtail is an accessory that connects fiber optic module and equipment, and its role is similar to that of adapter and extension cable in traditional data cable. It is composed of fiber optic core and outer sheath, which can transmit high-speed data signals between different devices, reduce signal loss, improve data transmission speed, and select different types of single-mode or multi-mode fibers according to the requirements in the application environment. FC pigtail are ideal for supporting fiber optic applications in fiber optic sensors and measuring devices. Manufactured and tested to meet ICE, ISO, and ROHS industry standards, HTGD is available in OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5, OS1 and OS2 fiber types, with FC connectors, and in a variety of cable diameters and materials. FC connectors are threaded and need to be screwed to ensure a strong connection. It is typically used in single-mode fiber optic systems, especially in applications requiring high mechanical stability. FAQ

Q: Can I install a different connector than the existing fiber infrastructure?

A: If we talk about legacy fiber installations, then ST and SC might be the best solution, as they have been standardized for legacy fiber. For newer installation, LC connectors are recommended due to the self-locking feature, compact size and alignment capability. It's best to terminate the cable with appropriate connector types. If that's not possible, then adapters can be used to convert from one type of connector to another.

Q: Should I clean fiber optic connectors?

A: Yes! Dust is fiber optic worst enemy. Dust particles could block the optical signal completely. Here's something impressive: the core of single mode fiber is equally sized or actually smaller than a dust particle.

Q: When and how should clean fiber optic connectors?

A: It is recommended to clean both ends before mating. There are special solvents, wipes and swabs for cleaning them, but is always best to follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

Packaging

After all tests are completed, the fiber optic jumpers will be packaged according to the customer's requirements. Usually, we will use PE bag to pack the jumper cables of the small meter section, and then put them into a small carton; to ensure the safety, we will use paper spool to pack the large meter section, and finally both of them will be packed in carton again.
